Prabhat Samgiita Day
Prabhat Samgiita Day on 13th September, Sunday. 9am at KL Jagriti.
Prabhat Samgiita Day - "Who was not singing?"
"...and one day when a Prabhat Samgiita song was finished being sung, then Baba asked, 'Who was not singing?'. Hearing this, everybody became alert. And then when the next song started, everybody was very careful and VSS were watching. That very day I felt that Baba is very strict that everybody should sing Prabhat Samgiita and nobody should think that Prabhat Samgiita is for Bengalis only or for a few professional musicians etc. So, when Baba Himself has transformed the process and specially designated Prabhat Samgiita as the chosen medium whereby devotees express themselves to Him, Prabhat Samgiita itself has a special value. It has a sanctified role and unique stance. So, it is our duty to recognize this truth and uphold the sacred standard of Prabhat Samgiita, the divine treasure."

Having in mind that Prabhat Samgiita should be given the due emphasis and importance in Klang Valley, the organizing committee of Ananda Marga Kuala Lumpur for Prabhat Samgiita Day 2009, decided to have a Prabhat Samgiita competition. Approximately, 3 months before the Prabhat Samgiita competition which was held on 13th September, 2009, the initiative was started. Twenty songs were chosen; ten for each category, adult and children. Booklets with the lyrics and CDs with the chosen songs were distributed to the margiis who signed up for the competition. Then onwards, practice of the competition songs for both adult and children took place weekly in AMKL Jagriti. Margiis as well as their children showed overwhelming response during the practice. Concurrently, margiis from AMPJ were practicing for a performance which was led by Bro. Cintamani.

Finally, the day came. It was 9 o’clock in the morning, margiis with their children assembled in AMKL jagriti. They were beautifully and colorfully dressed in traditional costumes. It was a festival of Prabhat Samgiita. The crowd was surprisingly more than expected. Anxiously, the participants - senior and new margiis, children and adult were all waiting in the hall. The judges, Dada Viitaragananda and Didi Ananda Nandita, were ready with their mark sheets. The competition for children category began. Even though, for most of them, it was their first time taking part in such a competition, they performed marvelously.
After a short break, the competition went on to the adult category. It was joyful, to hear some margis for the first time singing Prabhat Samgiita, that too on the stage which would have taken a lot of courage. Bravo! Each of the participants was asked a simple question on their general knowledge of Prabhat Samgiita which was also meant to educate everyone who was present in the hall. In between, we enjoyed superb performances by Dr. Neelaveni, Sis. Arunima, Bro. Jaysriganesh, PJ Unit, Didi Anandanandita and Dada Vitaragananda.
And now, we would like to announce the winners for the children category:
1st prize : Bro Harindra
2nd prize: Sis Divya Ranjana
3rd prize: Sis Arunima
…and for the adult category:
1st prize : Bro Jothi
2nd prize: Bro Vickneswaran
3rd prize: Sis Vijaya
It was almost 1.30pm, when banana-leaf lunch was served and followed by Namaskar!
The organizing committee would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the margiis who had made this event a successful one by their presence and participation. “Prabhat Samgiita for all” is our motto and with this we expect, Prabhat Samgiita Competition will be a yearly event.
